I start it up move forward and nothing, no grinding, just the smooth quiet sound I am used to. I still take it in just to be sure and they check it out and nothing is loose or missing. Grinding Noise in sync with wheel speed. My 05 ML-500 started to make a light grinding once in a while. I now have 140,000 miles on the ML and thought maybe I'm close to doing a Brake job. It did not appear that the brake pad sounders were contacting the rotor . Never the less, with 92,000 miles on the Akebono Pads & Zimmermann Rotors.

Racer_X answered 6 years ago. I'd agree with BoholMark. Brake Pads are worn out and either 1 of 2 scenarios. Replacing the pads and resurfacing of the rotors. Replacing both pads and rotors (more expensive). Ask the mechanic IF the rotors can be resurfaced. Since this a front wheel drive car, you may only have to worry about front pads & rotors.
